Comoros say they are ready to go to international arbitration to succeed in the dispute between them to France on the status of Mayotte, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Comoros and Cooperation, Fahmi Said Ibrahim.
"Our position on this issue has been constant and consistent for years, namely that the entire archipelago is a single territorial entity. This position was defended constantly by President Ahmed Abdallah Sambi. I have no doubt it will be by his successor, President Dhoinine "hammered Mr. Ibrahim. This
want France to recognize the affiliation of Mayotte in the Comoros archipelago, as confirmed by the resolutions adopted by the United Nations and the African Union. Before coming at this stage, the Comoros are willing to discuss the case with France in Mayotte and find common ground. Nevertheless, the different between them has been accentuated by the referendum of March 29, 2009, regarding the departmentalization of Mayotte, which the African Union has acknowledged any value and for which she had protested in association with the Comorian authorities.
