April 1 is the day jokes. So where does this tradition of hanging paper fish on the back in France? It is said that it originated in 1564 when King Charles IX decided that the year begin on 1 January, marks the lengthening days instead of late March, spring arrives. The king had found while traveling in different parts of his kingdom, according to the dioceses, the year does not begin on the same day. With this edict of 1564 steadies the beginning of the year throughout its domain. According to legend, some people decided to continue to celebrate around the 1st of April. But as this was not the true beginning of the year, gifts were false gifts. The use of fish is more confused. As at the beginning of April, France, fishing is prohibited because it is the breeding season, it is said that some were throwing herring to the river to make jokes to fishermen and that they then cried "April Fool!"
Today is hung, as discreetly as possible, a paper fish on the backs of people who walk in street are also made jokes to family, friends, and then writes "April Fool!" when the joke is discovered or to warn that the story we told is false. Thousand years earlier, the Normandy coast know another landing, the Viking, aboard their Viking ships. These men will become the North Normans from 933, Normandy is an important duchy of France. In 1066, the most famous of them, William the Conqueror , accompanied by 50,000 soldiers and horsemen conquered England after winning the Battle of Hastings. This struggle is told in the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Bayeux is also the first town liberated in France June 7, 1944. England remains associated with France until 1204, when Philip Augustus recovers Norman lands.
The two flags of Normandy. The first two leopards repesentative (nicknamed the Norman p'tits cats) and is identical to the old coat of arms of Normandy. The second is the flag of the Cross of St. Olaf, Norman movement's flag, created in 1939 and is derived from the banner at the papal cross given to William the Conqueror by the Pope.
