To be fit, drink Rooibos! This herbal tea South Africa has incredible qualities
Rooibos is becoming more popular locally and internationally and is now one of the best products South African exports. Today, you can drink Rooibos almost anywhere in the world, in places as distant from South Africa that Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan or even ke. The market for
Rooibos - green unfermented tea which contains more antioxidants-in particular, is increasing. Green Rooibos extracts are now widely used in various culinary preparations and in cosmetics.
Rooibos Tea is, indeed, very versatile. It can be enjoyed hot or cold, with or without milk, sugar or honey. The South African herbal tea blends well with lemon juice or fruit and can also be used in cooking and baking. It can even replace the liquid element in many recipes for soups, marinades, sauces, stews and cakes for added flavor and elements nutrients.
In South Africa - and increasingly abroad - the consumer can now try many innovative products made from Rooibos: Rooibos in the yogurt, fruit juice, rooibos, honey infused to Rooibos, or even a Rooibos espresso, candy carob-infused Rooibos, Rooibos of nougat, as well as products for skin and hair that contain tea.
So why is it that Rooibos has become a product if desired? Because this tea has very good taste, of course, but even more because it is extremely good for your health and we found there, including elements anit-mutagenic, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-virals.
In fact, medical science is only beginning to entrevioir all the benefits of Rooibos. Current research seems to confirm that there are no limits to its incredible medicinal properties.
What is Rooibos?
Rooibos - pronounced "king-boss" - meaning "red bush" in Afrikaans.
This tea comes from the Aspalathus linearis bush, which grows on the slopes of the Cederberg mountains in the Western Cape, South Africa. We can not find anywhere else.
Rooibos is not strictly speaking a "real" tea, since it is extracted from a plant to flower without a wooden rod. Infusions of teas contain no caffeine, unlike other types of tea.
The Koi people make mountains Cederberg Rooibos teas for hundreds of years, and they have long been convinced that this tea is good for their health. The Contributions of
Rooibos - Rooibos has no side effects listed
Researchers have, to date, found no side effects to Rooibos tea, so it can be drunk without restriction.
In fact, Rooibos is completely pure and natural: it contains no added material, No artificial colorings or preservatives. It is naturally low in tannin (barely 1-4%) whereby it does not prevent the absorption of iron and protein in the body - unlike black tea. This "bush tea" contains no caffeine or oxalic acid, and can therefore be drunk by people suffering from kidney stones. Furthermore, Rooibos contains, so to speak, no calories (unless you add sugar or milk, of course).
- Rooibos delays aging of the organism
Our bodies are aging under the action of toxic compounds called free radicals - a residue of normal operation -cells. Free radicals attack our healthy cells and gently help us to age and weaken our immune system.
Now, Japanese scientists have recently discovered that Rooibos contains an imitation of the enzyme SOD (Super Oxide Dismutase), an antioxidant that attacks free radicals and limit their devastating effects.
Rooibos contains 50 times more SOD than green tea and other anti-oxidants - as aspalathin - which are not found in other teas.
Rooibos Tea is also rich in flavonoids, and studies have shown that it contains much polyphenol - another element valuable to health - that green tea.
experiments - so far carried out almost exclusively on animals, show that Rooibos can slow the aging process (in particular the progression of dementia), decrease the risk of certain cancers (such as cancers of the skin, faith, esophagus and prostate) and give some protection against cardiac events.
- Rooibos is good for the digestive system
do not contain caffeine naturally, Rooibos helps to relieve stomach cramps, ulcers, nausea, heartburn, and constipation . This
tea also helps recover from a hangover and can be beneficial for weight loss by helping to control appetite without adding calories.
- Rooibos is good for the nervous system
Rooibos is rich in magnesium, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the nervous system. In addition, it contains no caffeine and has a relaxing effect on the central nervous system.
Apparently, Rooibos helps fight against insomnia, restless nights and headache. It is recommended in cases of irritability, nervous tension, mild depression or hypertension, because its relaxing sedative.
- Rooibos contributes to bone health
Rooibos helps strengthen bones and teeth because it contains calcium, manganese and especially fluoride.
- Rooibos is ideal for skin problems
alpha hydroxy acid and zinc present in Rooibos helps to keep skin healthy and smooth. Rooibos also has a calming effect in skin irritations such as eczema, sunburn, diaper rash or acne. It is necessary in these cases, apply directly to the affected area.
- Rooibos can help in the case of allergies
Rooibos seems to help control allergies: hay fever, asthma, eczema.
- Rooibos does wonders for babies
Rooibos is not only safe for pregnant or nursing women and babies: because of its anti-spasmodic it is even recommended - mixed with milk breastmilk or infant formula milk powder - for babies with colic, stomach cramps or fighters have trouble sleeping.
- Rooibos can relieve tired eyes
Packets of Rooibos can be placed on the eyes tired or red to pacify and relax. It's more effective if the bags are first placed in the fridge or fridge.
- Rooibos helps our body to function properly
Rooibos promotes iron absorption by the body. It also contains potassium and copper required for certain metabolic functions.
Because it is rich in minerals - iron, potassium, zinc, manganese and sodium - the tea bush in South Africa is helping to restore balance to the body after exercise sports.
- and Rooibos tastes divine!
It is less bitter than most teas and can be consumed at any hour of the day for a welfare maximum.

medical wipes why we would do better to go without
@ Sandrine New
past fifteen years have witnessed an unprecedented boom in the use of wipes and other disposable cleaning materials of all kinds, to the point that nobody seems to wash their hands. Beside the baby wipes, wipes are commonly found in the hands, deodorant wipes, self tanning, wipes to remove makeup as well as nail polish or black spots, wipes for cleaning cars, furniture, floors, fridges and ovens. The wipes are not only part of the journey by air, but also the package of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. In 2004, their market value worldwide was about 4 billion.
Wipes are a disaster for the environment
Made of plastic fibers, polyester fiber and pressed together and dipped in a liquid disinfectant wipes are extremely slow to degrade. They thus accumulate, become increasingly numerous in our environment.
Just for North America, the 83,000 tons of wipes purchased in 2003 would require 9000 truck 18 wheels for transport, and the convoy would stretch over 100 kilometers.
packets of wipes are hotbeds for germs to spread
wipes often contain antibacterial ingredients intended to be effective in protecting skin against E coli, salmonella and listeria. But once opened a package of wipes, if you drag a hand not very clean, your package may well become, instead, foster proliferation ideal for these bacteria.
To avoid this problem, manufacturers add large amounts of preservatives and antibacterial agent in their tissues. What happens when it all those chemicals flowing into the system in our landfills and sewers? No one is really concerned about it until now.
Wipes contain chemicals that irritate the skin
The wipes can be irritating to human skin, destroying the natural protective barrier of the skin and cause dermatitis and eczema. Chemicals can be transferred to our food when preparing meals, and then be ingested when we eat, with consequences that remain to be studied. All
wipes contain chemicals which irritate the skin is very well happen, as, for example, denatured alcohol - which by drying the skin and crisp making it a breeding ground for infection-, glycol propylene and a range of potentially carcinogenic ingredients.
Wipes pose additional problems
They are expensive and tend to block drains toilet when someone throws them.
Alternatives
The best natural alternative to wipes is soap and water: this remains the most effective way to get rid of germs.
When traveling, if you do not have easy access to water, you can take a piece of wet flannel or two in plastic bags that close tightly.
not irritate sensitive skin of babies with wipes, use toilet paper or moistened cotton instead.
For housekeeping, give yourself a microfiber cloth. They are made of very fine fibers are used wet and compacted and no chemicals, they can clean almost anything.

Every day more, under pressure from human population constantly growing, the water becomes a commodity rare. We can all make a difference for our dear old earth, changing the way we use water, and for those who care about the fate of their own planet - as surprising as it may seem, they still exist! - At least for our personal finances.
Here, for starters, some simple suggestions. If we want to reduce our water consumption, we must stop viewing water as a renewable resource, and apply the famous three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
I. Reduce
As for paper, glass, or anything else, it must always be the first step: for what is not consumed in the first place need not be reused or recycle. Reduce our consumption of water is easy, but it takes a bit of application and involvement.
1) Leaks
- First, make sure that your facility did not leak. To find out, the consumption rate displayed on your water meter before bedtime, and again on morning before any additional consumption. If the two amounts differ, you probably have a serious leak somewhere, and better call a plumber.
- Check your faucets for leaks and if necessary repair or for repair the leak. If you can not take care of it immediately, place, pending a container below, you will be amazed how small drops can fill buckets full!
2) Personal Care
- Can you wash your hands, teeth, or when you pour a glass of water, do not let the tap run longer than necessary.
- Prefer showers to baths and apply them the same principle of not letting the water run all the time you get wet, turn off water, lather up, turn on the tap to rinse, turn off the faucet.
- If you still continue to take baths, get used to bathe your children together: in general, they love it!
- A baby does not need a full bath: instead use a plastic bowl.
- Most of the time, it is quite enough not to wash every two days.
- If you live alone or with family, it is also not necessary, flushing of water each pee.
- Install a flush fitted with an economic system that allows to draw "half flush". Otherwise, most of flushing can be traced back the lever and stop the dumping of any water during hunting, and saves water.
- tanks of flush toilets are generally larger than necessary: reduce your capacity by placing a brick or large stone.
2) The dishes and laundry
- dishwasher manufacturers claim that it is more economical water use their machines to do the dishes by hand. It is undoubtedly true, if you do the dishes under running water. But if you use a tank for washing and another for rinsing and start washing the least dirty things - like glasses - you will not use much water.
- If anyone, besides me, always makes his laundry by hand, well, use exactly the same principle ...
- If you use a dishwasher or a washing machine, your machine will run only if they are full, you not only save water but also energy.
3) Self
- Unless you live near the sea and have to fight rust due to corrosion by salt, your car does not need to be washed often. Space out your washing.
- When you wash your car, use a bucket for washing soap and a clean water rinse. Avoid using the hose, if it is to reach inaccessible areas, like under the car.
4) The garden
- Do not over-watering your garden, you might even make him more harm than good by accelerating the leaching of soil.
- Some plants, including grass, do not need to be watered. Your grass is a little dry and yellowish? Big deal! It is natural for grass to turn yellow, its roots remain alive and it will eventually grow back even if it looks dead.
- Check the weather before watering: it is a waste of water just before the rain. The same common sense applies when adding water in a pool.
- When you water, do it at night, or, failing that, early in the morning to leave time for the land to absorb water before it is lost by evaporation.
- Choose native plants, local: they are adapted to your climate and for that, do not have big needs watering.
5) Cistern
Install a tank - or at least put -a bucket under your gutters. When you use water and harvested it costs you nothing and it costs much less to the environment because it did not have to be treated first.
A tank is ideal for watering your plants, wash your car, doing laundry by hand, add water to the pool and even, according to the level of pollution where you live, to drink. I live in an isolated area where rainfall is moderate and my family, comprising three members, survives entirely on our two water tanks that collect water from the roof of a small house and a garage.
II. Reuse
Whatever your efforts, water consumption is not zero. But what good is that, like many other things, water can often be reused, and it very easily. The principle is very simple: we need water "first hand" to drink, but water "second hand" is quite sufficient, for example, flushing the water ... Identify all the uses for which water "reuse" is sufficient, and avoid the ease of opening a tap for them.
1) The flush
is the most obvious: it's a big mess to use potable water for flushing. What water can be used instead? Smart people have invented an integrated, basin and toilet, where the water which is clamped to wash their hands flowing directly into the toilet tank underneath. If you can not find this type of toilet, or if their price is prohibitive - I've met in Japan - you may be able to tinker with yourself. Otherwise, you will like me to use plastic buckets and make transfers.
Where to find water recovery? In your tank - although this is still some way from water first hand - the bath water, the water used to clean the car, etc..
2) The bath
If you are still determined to take baths, use full water recycling bath water for children, at least in part, by adding hot water to your bath . The Japanese - who in some ways, are much greener than you might think, have a way to wash first with water from a bucket and only then to be immersed in the water from a hot bath. The whole family uses the same bath as well as the water is clean and kept warm by a sort of cover.
3) Gardening
Watering is a perfect job for your water tank. In addition, the water in your tank, do not involve chemicals, is much better for your plants. If the bath water is not too slippery, it can also be used for some plants.
4) Other
The bath water can still use other ways to wash his clothes or his car, for example, or to wash their hands.
III. Recycle
Recycling water is far easier than reducing its use or reuse, and it also has a cost. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid over-utilization water upstream. Most people do not have to worry about water recycling, because in our modern states, this task is usually entrusted to municipalities for that plants specializing in the treatment of wastewater.
Some individuals, however, go further by establishing their own ecological treatment system, instead of using chemicals, use the cleansing power of nature. The wastewater passes through a series of basins or specific plants were planted to purify water as you go. But this goes far beyond the scope of this article.
With the exception of the section on recycling, you see there's nothing very complicated or impossible. However, changing attitudes takes a little effort and unselfishness. But is that our planet does not deserve that one bathroom and a few jumps that you carry a few buckets of water for her?
